MCU-1 Master Control Unit
This master control unit forms the heart of the plant shutdown control system and provides a unified and stand alone system with expansion capabilities for remote reset.
It contains a polarised relay to receive a fire alarm signal from most BS5839 fire alarm panels and can be connected to a typical fire alarm sounder circuit which uses end of line resistors or fire relay output at a fire alarm panel.
The unit is capable fo controlling many different types of electrical equipment and overcomes drawbacks with existing simple relay arrangements, where unwanted re-energisation may occur.
The output from it will remain isolated even when the alarm signal is only momentarily applied.
This means that the power is not restored prematurely to equipment such as magnetic door contacts, lift equipment and ventilation systems, which if re-energised could allow the unwanted passage of smoke or fire.The unit also includes an isolation key switch to enable testing of the fire alarm system without shutting down any of the control systems connected to the units output.
The control system requires a manual reset after an alarm input or power failure, meaning it is fail safe.

Optional Extras for MCU-1
RRU-1 Remote Reset Unit
The remote reset unit is designed to be installed as an optional extra to the Master Control Unit.
It provides for remote monitoring and reset of the system following any alarm activation. An example of this may be at a counter position in a retail store, or at a reception desk in a small hotel.
The number of remote reset units which can be fitted is almost limitless.
The unit has a red neon indicator to show the unit has been triggered by a fire alarm signal and a yellow neon indicator to indicate the status of the output relay, and that the system is ready for reset when authority is given from a responsible person.

SAU-1 System Activation Unit
The system activation unit is designed to be installed as an optional extra to the Master Control Unit.
It provides for audible and visual indication of the system during shutdown of the controlled equipment.
The number of remote Sounder Activation Units which can be fitter to a Master Control Unit is limited to 50 units, these are not a substitute for normal fire alarm sounders on a BS5839 system.
The unit has a sounder and flashinig beacon to provide audible and visual signals that the plant shutdown system has been activated.
